Poland 4 Georgia • Georgia 4 Poland
Years of friendship between the nations of Georgia and Poland have flourished with mutual interest, craving for culture and willingness to come closer. Poland4Georgia, Georgia4Poland meets these needs with a proposal of exchange of extraordinary artistic events between the two countries.
The project is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Georgia and Outdoor Cinema Ent. in co-operation with the National Film Archive of Poland, Georgian National Film Center, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, and under the Honorary Patronage of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Poland and the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia.
This year's undertaking is a pilot project encompassing artistic events in the form of open air film screenings organized in Georgia between the 9th of September and the 1st of October 2013. Using the advanced, mobile film projection technology supplied by Outdoor Cinema Ent., the screenings will be realized in several regions of Georgia.
The Poland 4 Georgia open air cinema will come to Nikozi, Kutaisi, Batumi and Tbilisi. The people of Georgia will be able to see award-winning feature films and documentaries by contemporary film-makers from both countries. The programme includes films such as Czarny Czwartek by Antoni Krauze and In Darkness by Agnieszka Holland, among others. We will also show the most prominent Polish animation movies, such as the classics by Jerzy Kucia and Julian Antonisz, as well as contemporary productions from Platige Image.
The organizers have also prepared a special surprise for younger viewers: a birthday celebration of Bolek i Lolek, who are turning 50 this year! The jubilee will be celebrated with a screening of one of the episodes from the cult children's series before each projection.
All Polish films will be screened with subtitles in Georgian, while all Georgian films will have subtitles in English.
The admission to all Poland 4 Georgia screenings is free of charge.
